Financial accountability is a matter of great importance at Cabo
Verde Children. We have established a
financial committee with stringent accounting and financial
reporting procedures to ensure that the funds that you provide
and we send to in-country community leaders are properly
distributed to pre-identified families.
When a sponsor’s contribution is processed monthly, it is
directly deposited into Citizens Bank in USA. State and federal
bank examinations ensure safety and security.
Funds are then transferred to CV Children's account in Cabo Verde. A list of recipients and total
amount transferred is then communicated with the Board of
Directors in Cabo Verde.
Board of Directors communicate with community leaders and
provide list of recipients and approve funds to be dispersed.
Pre-identified projects and Sponsored families receive monetary
funds. Cabo Verde Children’s project coordinators are empowered
to follow up with
recipients on a semi-annual basis to provide report on the
children or project being supported. Reports when
available are posted for sponsors to review and analyze.
Furthermore, as budget allows, accounting
staff members from our headquarters conduct financial and
program reviews and Board of Directors of Cabo Verde visit a
number of children to ensure that they are receiving benefits as
promised to our sponsors. They spend time interviewing sponsored
children and their families and visiting schools and other facilities to ensure that sponsored
children are receiving needed benefits and services.
But the most accurate financial accountability is the direct
connection that our sponsors enjoy with their families via
telephone, letters or in-person when they visit the islands.
