Good morning! [ feedback email dated January 11, 2007 ]
I have the pleasure to tell you that I met the little Francisca (Child ref.#1679), along with her mom. What a wonderful feeling; I was very lucky to have the opportunity to hug her, look directly into her beautiful hazel shiny eyes. Her innocent look brought tears of joy running down my cheeks; her mother was very trilled and cried a lot when she saw me.
Her smile told me a lot; this is the child that I will help for as long as I can and do all I can do for her. I gave the mother the payment for the next three months, and went to the pharmacy and bought some medications like: Antibiotic ointments, peroxide water, vitamins, and iodine so the mother can do some wound care on her legs.
In addition, I bought food items for her like: Cereal, milk, juices, crackers, cookies, and other things that I believed the family could use. These were only a gift.
I have her picture which I will try to e-mail to you later. I have never felt so good as I feel now knowing that I am helping a child who really needs the help.
I also had the opportunity to meet the Pastor Mr. Francisco who is responsible for the distribution of the funds. I had the mother sign a form that she received the money and sent a copy to Mr. Francisco for his documentation.
I wanted to thank you for all your help during the process of getting connected with Francisca. I will call you once I get a chance and we will talk more. Have a wonderful day and give my best regards to your wife and children. May your 2007 be filled with good health and lots of happiness! Um abraco, Maria.

Roberta Vicente and Stephanie Pires... A dream discovered
This is the story of Stephanie Pires who received a very fortunate visit from her sponsor Roberta Vicente, a lady who lives in Connecticut, USA. Roberta did not hesitate to travel five thousand kilometers across the Atlantic Ocean to see Stephanie (child ref #1619). Without a doubt, it would be an emotional and heart-warming encounter! It was incredible to see the excitement on Roberta’s face as she stepped on the soil of Djabraba; she immediately wanted to see her child. On the same day, after a well-deserved meal, in the company of the CV Children coordinator of the island of Brava, Roberta proceeded to...[read more - caboverdeonline.com]

E-mail leads to worthwhile Web site
By Ann Marie Lopes

People send me story ideas and I review them all. Most find their way into this column, but it might take a while for me to write about the topic depending upon what other topics might be pressing.
Recently I received an e-mail containing only a Web site address. Intrigued, I clicked on it, praying that I wasn't introducing a virus to my computer. Thankfully, I found an interesting Web site instead.
